So the quest is underway to create the most dazzling intricate elf costumes for the ren faire next year. Ivy and Ken got both Travis and I going by showing us the fact that Ivy's gauntlets are suede lined, completely hand embroidered, and have fasteners that are deer antlers sawed to small pieces. I just about drooled on them!
So Travis is going as an elvish Lorekeeper and I am going to go as a elementalist, still unable to decided between an earth or water elementalist. The colors are what is holding me up. I like the earth elementalist colors better (bronze, brown, umber, deep purple). But the water one would be cool do to a headdress of driftwood and shells
Anyways, so right now Travis' Lorekeeper project has gotten underway because I can focus on something and actually make a decision. Is scroll case has two wooden ends, stained in Jacobean and burned with an elvish symbol. The middle portion is thick leather, also dyed dark and it is attached to either of the wooden ends by upholstry tacks. (SO COOL!) And then knob for the top wooden part that lifts off is ornate bronze, so neat!
His quill is even more amazing. Made from a turkey feather, we stripped nearly all of it away and attached some beads and wrappings at the bottom to really set it off! I will have pictures up soon. And last, what I am working on tonight is the hand molded ink well, made to look like wood texture on the outside. I am also casting a stopper top for the cork
